"The mean score for 520 black students that took the AP Computer science A test is 1.60, which is below the 3 or above rating that makes you eligible to receive college Advanced Placement credit."

Wow! I never looked into the demographic results for the test.

When I took the test in 2008, I earned a 5 as an African- American female in Tennessee. My AP class consisted of two other students, and the year prior, the class had only 5 students. It was my teacher's second time teaching the course, and I was her first five. I don't believe the school offers the class anymore.

I am currently taking a course (Educational Technology) at the Georgia Institute of Technology that is taught by Professor Mark Guzdial who was been instrumental in shaping the CS principles for the new AP CS Test. He blogs about computer education at http://computinged.wordpress.com
